Equine Influenza Vaccination
All horses wishing to compete at any BC Competition must have up to date Equine Influenza vaccination.
On first of January 2024, changes to the intervals for the administration of vaccinations for equine influenza were announced. The British Carriagedriving Rule Book will now follow this time frame which also applies to international events.
Important Note: There is no requirement for horses that have received their primary course and first booster before 1 January 2024, to be re-vaccinated provided that they have been vaccinated in compliance with the 2023 Veterinary Regulations.
From first January 2024, an initial Primary Course of two vaccinations must be given; the second vaccination must be administered within 21-60 days of the first vaccination. The first booster must be administered within 6 months and 21 days following the date of administration of the second vaccination of the Primary Course.
Booster vaccinations must be administered at a maximum of 12 month intervals, the same day in each year being acceptable for these purposes, however horses competing in events must have received a booster within 6 months +21 days (and not within 7 days) before arrival at the event.
Horses may compete 7 days after receiving the second vaccination of the primary course.
