We are delighted that there are a substantial number of people qualified for the National Championships this year. The schedules for the National Championships and National Gateway Championships are now published and entries are open. Here is some information about the Championship qualification: The list of qualified drivers is on the BC website now. There will be additional names, as it currently does not show those people who have qualified under the ‘attend 2 BC National and/or Regional Events’ amendment to the rules and some other changes – please see below. Gateway Classes. If you think you have qualified for the Championships, and your name is not on the list, please get in touch. Novice Classes. If your qualification for the Championships was driving the Novice A test, that is the test you will drive at Ashfields. If it was driving Novice B, then you will compete driving Novice B. Open Single classes. If your qualification for the Championships was driving the Open A test, that is the test you will drive at Ashfields. If it was driving Open B then you will compete driving Open B. Advanced Single Horse Class. This is the only class that will accept HC entries this year. The National Championship is being used as the first of the Nominated events before Selectors. Very Small Equines. Fantastic that 2023 will be the first National Championship to hold a VSE class. Good luck to all the competitors that have qualified for this new and exciting innovation. Hopetoun Regional (July) cancellation. Sadly the second Hopetoun event was cancelled, which resulted in a number of people being disadvantaged. There are a limited number of opportunities for qualification in the Midlands and further North and even less this year with Frickley and Allerton not running. It has been agreed that any competitors who had entered for the Hopetoun event before the cancellation will be granted a qualification place. The Chepstow International FEI event (June) was a qualifier for the National Championships. It has been agreed that Royal Windsor Horse Show will also act as a qualifier for the Championships. As a result there will be some slight changes to the listings of qualified drivers in the Single Horse, Horse Pairs and Horse 4 classes.
