Midlands Carriagedriving has three great Two-Day-Events coming up, one an old favourite, one a new venue and one with a new organising team!

First up will be the Midlands’s Regional and Club event running alongside the British Young Drivers (BYD) National Championships at Onley Grounds near Rugby in Warwickshire on 29 and 30 July.

Entries have been pouring in and are now closed; however, the club is running a waiting list, entries accepted online only but if you have any queries, please contact Ruth Auton on entriesmc@gmail.com  or telephone (evenings only) 07785 542500 for club classes.

Onley is a popular venue with lovely flat grassed dressage and cones arenas and eight well-built obstacles. There is permanent catering on-site with an optional hot meal available on Saturday evening (extra charges apply).

August 19 and 20 sees the club at its new venue, Brailsford Wild Park Farm.

Very easily accessed direct off the A52 between Derby and Ashbourne, there is level parking while the marathon course will be along 11km of grassy tracks with gentle slopes and six obstacles suitable for all sizes of equines. Section B only for the Short Format classes.

On-site catering will be available both days with an optional evening meal at the ‘Pub in the Woods’ on Saturday evening. Food for the pub must be pre-ordered and paid for on the Friday, menus available at the Secretary’s caravan.

Closing date is 9 August so don’t delay.

The season rounds off at Oasby, near Grantham in Lincolnshire with a new organising team at the helm.

New team they may be, but Ruth and Bob Auton and Chris and Jenny Doughty are ‘old hands’ at setting up driving trials events.

Taking place on 2 and 3 September, Oasby is off the A52 six miles east of Grantham.

The marathon will be 12km with six obstacles; as usual there will be catering on-site and the closing date for entries is 17 August.

On Saturday night the organisers will be holding a quiz (should be a laugh!) with an optional hot meal supplied by caterers Kate and Dave.

Entries for Brailsford and Oasby can be made via the Midlands website: www.midlandscarriagedriving.co.uk

Competitions need a huge number of stewards at any event so if you’re not competing or fancy a day out with a great group of people, please volunteer. Contact Peggy Spencer on 01335 370158; she’ll be very pleased to hear from you!
