Le Pin au Haras in Normandy (6-9 July 2023) saw 5 drivers from the British Single Horse Squad, (with 6 horses!) and 2 Horse Pairs competitors with 5 horses competing at FEI 3* last weekend.
This made the British representation the greatest after the French who were obviously on home soil, a measure of the dedication and determination of our drivers. This venue, Haras National du Pin – Pole Sport will be used for the Horse Pairs World Championship in September 2023, and the Single Horse World Championship in September 2024 and has undergone massive building works with modern stable blocks, lorry parks and arenas all completed already. There is also a bistro offering coffee, snacks and beers with a smarter restaurant upstairs overlooking the dressage arenas and a delicious Ice-cream Bus! The goal for the Single Horses was to assess their progress and preparation for 2024 and all drivers were pleased with their performances with some having particularly good results in some phases. Our drivers and their crews were all very supportive of each other, throughout all the phases. With Ashfields National designated as a ‘nominated’ event for the single horse squad, there is time for a rest before the training resumes with a training weekend in August.
