The third Midlands Carriagedriving One-Day-Event, held on Sunday 18 June at Anslow in South Derbyshire, successfully dodged the wet weather and thunderstorms following the recent heatwave.

Proving once again that this event is fully inclusive, Margaret Warmsby and her pony, put to a two-wheeler, thoroughly enjoyed themselves to complete in the Novice Pony class.

Chris Patrick (intermediate horse class) in the Dressage.

Chris Patrick, sole competitor in Intermediate Horse, produced the only double clear of the day in the cones following a decent dressage before putting in second-fastest obstacle times.

He could well have provided the fastest times but for an ambitious turn in Obstacle 2 that didn’t quite come off.

The Open Horse class is proving competitive, with Chris Ainscough and Mark Riley bringing on promising seven-year-olds while Rachel Riley continues to drive her veteran grey.

Chris achieved the best dressage score of the day (50.56) ahead of Mark on 55.12, keeping his lead with better cones and marginally faster obstacle times.

Rachel clocked up the fastest obstacle times of the day but was unable to catch the boys, finishing third.
