The Officials' Clinic for 2023 was held in conjunction with the early Training Event at the David Broome Centre at Chepstow in Wales, rather than at the Unicorn Centre in Stow, where it has been held for over 20 years.

Also for this year, there was no FEI contingent to bolster the numbers as there were too many other FEI Clinics in Europe.

With a new venue and a brand new concept for the annual Officials Clinic, the affair got under way with a training day for the Single Horses on Thursday and Friday. Incorporating the drivers' Training Event on the Saturday and Sunday; it was quite a mixed bag!

Andrew Counsell (GBR), Johan Jacobs (NED) and Philip Bateman (GBR) were the course directors for the BC attendees at the annual clinic, as well as organizing the judging and the course designing. It kept Andrew and Johan busy for the four days.

Johan Jacobs had twelve Course Designers for his highly interesting course and some Obstacle Cones Driving on Sunday, with all the attendees.

Andrew had twenty four Judges in total, with three of them only attending on Sunday for the Cones.

Philip Bateman took the remaining seven technical delegates through some intensive training with power point presentations incorporating a lot of scenarios of things that went wrong at over 300 Events throughout his time as a Technical Delegate, as well as a lot of practical parts on both the Saturday and Sunday.

So as not to change too much, the usual annual dinner was held in Broomies Pavilion with a different menu and a vegetarian option.
