Applications for Legacy Funding

Following the exceptionally kind bequest from a former member, BC is looking at how to best utilise this legacy for the benefit and sustainable growth of the sport.

Members and Affiliated Clubs are invited to submit ideas for funding, based on the following high level categories:

  1. New initiatives that have a reasonable prospect of increasing membership of BC – up to £5,000 p.a. in total (e.g. welcome/taster days, advertising and promotion to other equine disciplines (pony club)
  2. Investment in events/venues that promotes/secures their longer time viability/success - up to £10,000 p.a. in total (e.g. obstacle grants)
  3. Investment in essential equipment used to support the growth of the sport – up to £5,000 p.a. in total (e.g. equipment for local clubs)
  4. Investment in new training initiatives - up to £5000 p.a. in total. (e.g. to support coaches/trainers, officials and membership)

Each application will be assessed on its merits and local circumstances by the Finance & General Purpose(F&GP) committee of BC Council.

Initial enquiries can be made via any Council member or the BC office prior to submitting a proposal. All awards will be at the discretion of BC Council.

Legacy Funding so far

In addition to funding all delegates attending British Carriagedriving National and Club training clinics this year, Council have implemented a grant scheme to help address the current shortage of qualified Technical Delegates and Course Designers.

Probationary Course Designers and Technical Delegates are eligible for this award each time they attend any National, Regional or Affiliated Club event as an assistant, provided the following conditions are met.

  1. Must be BC current registered probationary official.
  2. Must be receiving their training by a current listed BC official.
  3. Must have positive evaluations by two current listed CD, TD or Judge officiating at that event.

Fuel costs at 30p per mile (to a maximum of £100.00) will be paid, with costs towards an evening meal of £10.00 per day (up to maximum of £50.00). These amounts will be paid in the first instance by the event organisers to the candidate, then claimed back from BC after the event.
