North Eastern Driving TrialsAllerton Park Regional event report10-11 July 2021 |

The NEDTL were delighted that the regional event at Allerton Park over the weekend of 10/11 July was able to go ahead successfully, despite the difficulties which the Covid-19 pandemic has presented.
With an entry of almost 50 competitors – considerably down on previous years but still satisfying given the seemingly low uptake being experienced across the board in most areas. And on this occasion, even the weather was kind to us over the two days, with only a couple of light showers and wall-to-wall sunshine the rest of the time! Best dressage score of the competition went to Susan Don in the regional Open Pony class, with a score of 42.29, closely followed by Leslee Wilkinson in the Club Open Horse on a score of 49.40. Allerton’s undulating marathon course, where regional competitors had seven obstacles to negotiate and club competitors six, illustrated very well just who had managed to keep their horses in work throughout lockdown. Fastest time around the seven obstacles was put up by Dan Stafford, who’s pony had been less than obliging in the dressage. However, she obviously redeemed herself by performing a double clear in the cones, followed by best marathon to take the Intermediate Pony class and earn Dan a place at the Championships. Fastest of the club competitors across six obstacles was young driver Rachel Kay. This is Rachel’s debut season and she certainly seems to be making a name for herself, with a very respectable dressage score and only one cone down within the time. CLASS WINNERS:
