On to Onley and Widmerpool for Midlands Carriagedriving

Driving trials competitors are heading to the next Midlands Carriagedriving event which takes place at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre, being held from 5th to 6th August.

The two-day club competition is being run jointly with a British Carriagedriving Regional event which has qualifiers in all classes for the National Championships.

There will also be National Novice Qualifier classes. As an added incentive, Onley is one of the competitions qualifying for the northern-based Halspan Points League and Championships.

Onley Grounds is a superb venue for driving trials, with its level fields for lorry parking, beautifully tended grass arenas for dressage, level ground for the cones and a lovely marathon course which includes a water obstacle.

Competitors can also take advantage of the permanent facilities such as the café, showers and toilets along with some retail therapy in the tack shop and the Farm Shop and Butchery.

There's still time to enter the Onley event. Closing date for entries is 21 July and on-line entries are available. Get more information here.

Two weeks after Onley, Midlands Carriagedriving hosts a club 2-day competition at Widmerpool, near Newark in Nottinghamshire (19th to 20th August). The event is enhanced by use of the local rugby club’s facilities for a Pimm’s reception on the Friday evening and a Cheese and Biscuits get-together after the TD briefing on Saturday.

Widmerpool is easily accessed from the A46/A606 junction south of Nottingham with dressage arenas, cones course and obstacles all within easy reach of each other

With the loss of Catton Park, Midlands Carriagedriving’s Club Championships will now be held during a second visit to Onley Grounds on the first weekend in September.

Spectators are always welcome, as are volunteer stewards, to all of Midlands’ competitions.

Further information and non-members’ entry forms can be found on www.midlandscarriagedriving.co.uk
